How many miles does it typically accept the oil to plough from honey color to dingy looking? Car has dear colored oil and I'm trying to judge miles. Looks like it's used about one/3 or a qt or so. Possibly they merely inverse the oil. That's what normally happens and information technology was probably filled to that level. You will not be able to estimate oil fire with it sitting on the lot or on a brusque test drive. When the oil new it'southward relatively clear and difficult to read. Afterwards a thousand miles or so the oil starts to go dear colored. At oil change time (5k my car) the oil is darker but still very transparent. I choose 5k intervals due to the short trip conditions. My car is a 2012 with slightly less that 50k on the clock. I checked yesterday and it was transparent, simply darker dear colored. This is with 7.5k miles since the last oil change. With dino oil, a comparable color would expect similar oil later on 1k miles. Can anyone confirm or refute this? It would be good to know. When measuring the dipstick, if you await five min earlier reinserting to check, it'll be a lot easier to read. I guess oil tends to be fatigued upward into the guide tube, and the wait allows it to drain. Mayhap it'll settle properly in the evening?
